La Bastide de Moustiers is under the control of the great chef Alain Ducasse. Legend has it that he discovered the place in 1994 while out for a walk and made it his home before opening it to the public. Let’s remember that this chef, awarded with three Michelin stars in three establishments, is also a seasoned entrepreneur. The economic magazine Forbes ranked him 94th among the 100 most influential people in the world. Mr. Ducasse was born in 1956 and became a naturalized Monegasque in 2008.
Located near Notre-Dame-de-Beauvoir, La Bastide de Moustiers is the favorite hotel for travelers visiting Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. Nestled in a park of more than 4 hectares where unusual sculptures rub shoulders with century-old olive trees, La Bastide de Moustiers offers a romantic setting with high quality facilities. A dozen rooms and suites that offer all the amenities. Also, the Bastide de Moustiers offers a seasonal cuisine awarded by the Michelin guide.
A unique setting and interior
This magnificent bastide which faces the cliffs of Moustiers Sainte-Marie is in fact the former house of a master potter. They were numerous in the past. Restored by local craftsmen, always according to the directives of Mr. Ducasse, the Bastide de Moustiers is a pure product of Provence. Tonia Peyrot is an internationally renowned decorator. She worked for the Elysée but also in New York and Japan. It is to her that Alain Ducasse entrusted the interior design of this establishment. Thus, the restaurant is formed of four lounges. The Voyage en Asie lounge, the Decorative Arts lounge, the Hommage à Moustiers lounge and the Prints lounge.
The rooms of the Bastide de Moustiers
Alain Ducasse and Tonia Peyrot have thought of a style for each room. Two private suites, the Bastidon suite and the Olive suite. Then there are eleven rooms that reflect Provence. Many of them can communicate with each other, for the needs of families with big or small children.
A remarkable southern cuisine
La Bastide de Moustiers Sainte-Marie is a gourmet house. First of all for its cuisine of course. Sarah Chailan, a close collaborator of Mr. Ducasse, is fully responsible for the establishment and… of its kitchen! A seasonal cuisine that is close to nature, fed by the Bastides’ own gardens but also by small producers in the region. The reception is from 12:15 to 13:30 and from 19:15 to 20:30 on reservation only.
A garden where everyone can make discoveries
This extraordinary garden goes around the house. Everyone can be amazed by its scents. Next to the house is the vegetable garden of the Bastide’s gardener. Aromatic herbs, salads, roots or vegetables in season. Much of what you find on your plate has traveled very little.
The sides of the Bastide de Moustiers
Such an establishment is also distinguished by its facilities.
Thus, you will not miss to stroll along the swimming pool heated from May 1 to September 30. During the day, all the swimming is accompanied by the song of the cicadas.
A terrace between shade and pleasure. The ideal place to taste the flavors proposed by the Bastide.
The establishment also offers Thai treatments. Combined with essential oils, they provide unparalleled relaxation.
Finally, an electric boat named the Estelle awaits you to discover the Sainte-Croix lake.
